route 66

Today we were in the vicinity of Berwyn, so we made a stop at one of my favorite sculptures, the cars-on-stakes. My kids always get a kick out of seeing it, and today I mentioned to them that it actually is on Route 66. Their eyes lit up and their jaws dropped. Ever since becoming devotees of Cars, they are attuned to anything from the movie, and Route 66 is one of the major themes. As a matter of fact, the song as covered by John Mayer (my favorite), is my eldest's favorite song. So anyways, that got me thinking about a car trip with my boys along Route 66. The route starts from Chicago and ends in LA, 2000 miles. One day, we will do that! There's even an online guide.
