Fall/Birthdays

Imraan: 9/20

The defining moment for Imraan was figuring out his 'bathroom' issues. A pediatrician friend was visiting and noted that his irregularity was certainly treatable, and simply. I gave him some Miralax for a week which helped him overcome his serious fears and voila, we worked together to help him become regular. All this happened before school started, thankfully. We started to see a new Imraan, and he was happy and carefree, and SO FUNNY and fun to be with! There were no more accidents, nothing to hold us back. We were so relieved. So anyway, school started and there was some hesitation. He sat on the sidelines for a good two weeks and literally on his birthday, decided to join the class in free play time. Miracle! He was becoming less dependent on me, and more engaging in his classroom. He's taken quite a liking to school, enjoys doing homework sheets, and playdates (never liked playdates before). Academically, Imraan is reading very well and easily can read books for an extended period of time. We go to the library weekly and just sit and read.

Ibraheem: 9/29

He's the oldest in his class. He has bonded nicely with the other 2 boys and 3 girls who make up the extended day group. It's a diverse group: pakistani, chinese, malawi, african-american, and 2 guatemalan ethnicities. My homeschool from last year paid off significantly as his teachers informed me within a couple weeks of school starting that they plan to send Ibraheem upstairs to the jr. elementary classroom. We are all so excited for him to be a part of a classroom where he will finally be challenged, as one of the younger ones. He's keeping up with reading nicely and is starting to get into art again. We need to keep working on writing however....

Some fun things we have done this fall:

Eidul Fitr; Lambs Farm - miniature golfing, petting zoo, pony rides; Sonny Acres - haunted hayrides, pumpkin patch; Apple picking; Birthday parties

Omar and I each took a solo vacation which was extremely rejuvenating. The kids were very amenable to the idea and enjoyed time with one parent at a time.

Until next time...
