don't you forget...

Reminders that you are a parent:
  • you sing songs from your child's CDs b/c your tape player is broken and so is your radio. all your 'adult' CDs are at home...and your left with his choices; I'm not talking the good Dawud Wharnsby stuff, but "C is for Cookie" and "Rubber Ducky". Again, this is when you are ALONE in the CAR (returning his books to the libary, no less), after you bargain for some quiet respite sans kids.
  • your diaper bag becomes your purse (hey its big enough to hold a bottle of water, ok?)
  • you leave your wallet at home while on a stroller walk, but you remember a diaper, a bunch of snacks and a couple of toys. well, guess who won't be getting that mocha after all..
  • you absent-mindledly offer a toy to your husband to keep him "busy" so you can sneak out of the room (then you don't come back b/c you realize you need sleep and your husband is not an infant)
  • you start borrowing phrases from your toddler, like, "i wanna do byself" (husband says it, not moi)
Proof that he is your child:
  • "hey, that is mine!!"
  • "geez"/"sheesh"/variations thereof....
  • "hmmkay.....alright.....lets see what we can do here"
  • "you have to share!"
  • "thank you for sharing" or "of course I can share with you" (as he eats off my plate)
  • "would you like to come with mama?"
  • .....and the cake goes to: "mocha lite" -- really, he said that once while playing. "mama, remember, 'mocha lite'?" :-D
